Cosmopolitan - found worldwide in all 50 US states, Great Britain, Europe, Russia, Asia, Australia, Mexico, Central and South America, British Columbia, Canada. One of the most widely distributed psilocybin mushrooms globally.
Habitat
Coprophilous species that also thrives in fertilized lawns, urban compost heaps, well-manured gardens, haystacks, compost heaps, riding stables, and equestrian paddocks. Strongly associated with nitrogen-rich decomposing organic matter in urban and agricultural settings.
Season
Spring through fall (April to October in temperate regions), with heaviest yields after substantial rainfall. Can grow abundantly year-round in warmer climates after rain. Multiple flushes possible throughout the growing season.
