Mycorrhizal with oak, beech, and chestnut on chalky soils.

Toxin Type
Gyromitrin-like / GI Irritants
Symptoms
Causes severe GI distress when raw or undercooked. Also contains gyromitrin-like compounds. Blue bruising reaction is distinctive. Can cause hemolysis when consumed with alcohol.

Lurid yellow-red patterns shifted everywhere. Bolete spirits with lurid coloring appeared. Everything looked diseased and unsettling.
