Distribution

Southern China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan). Increasingly common as urban landscaping expands into forested areas.

Habitat

Mycorrhizal with pine and broadleaf trees in subtropical forests. Often found in urban parks and gardens near pine trees.

Season

Spring to autumn (March-November), peak in rainy season.

Toxin Type

Amatoxins

Symptoms

Amatoxin syndrome with high fatality rate. Causes acute liver failure, renal failure, and encephalopathy. Multiple deaths reported annually in southern China.
